About Wandering on Weekends
How Wondering on Weekends was born:
There are plenty of travel sites and blogs out there. Most of them just don’t make sense for the average wanderer. Most of them tell you where to go, but not where to go. This blog should help fill that void. Here you’ll find a detailed, narrative timeline of my wanderings in each place I visit – often with only 48 hours in each place, on the weekend of course. Use this to help plan your own trip or generate some ideas about where you’d like to go.
My travel philosophy:
Most of my travel takes place Friday – Sunday, with the occasional week-long trip mixed in. By reading through the posts you should get a good sense of what can be accomplished with 48 hours in a particular place.
I tend to always hit the popular tourist spots (say what you will, they are popular for a reason), but I also try to find odd, off the beaten path things to do as well. Most of my trips will include hiking/kayaking/outdoor activities as well.
I build my itineraries with a small amount of planning, much on the fly research, and tips from locals once I’m at my destination. Then, I pass my itineraries on to you. This should help give you a general sense of an area and a sample itinerary. Use it as a starting point to build your own, or leave suggestions in the comments for others who may want to visit the scene.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy!
